So basically you go out (maybe bring a friend) and you can only bring a backpack full of things to survive. you could be on an island or something. and this is for teens. and basically like you have to work with your friend to get food and make shelter. it's kind of like the Discovery show The Colony except they don't give you supplies and you don't get attacked, kind of like the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins except were not trying to kill eachother an kind of like Outward Bound except I think outward bound is only sailing because I checked the website. please help I'm really interested in this. oh an if I didn't say this I want t to be a summer camp. also some where in the us from the coast of Maine to Florida. maybe an island. please please. even if you can't think of everything that fits all these catagories I'd like the help. and also any infrmation on outward bound if I got my info wrong... :) this is so appreciated.

I suggest that you might take a look at the Turning Winds program. It ranks as one of the top outdoor programs for offering a wilderness camp experience to your child. Turning Wind has a long history of success and a roster of literally hundreds of kids that these innovative wilderness camps have helped in the last ten years. The young men and woman who come to this camp come from all over the country. Good luck.

Male programs similar to Au Pair?
Alex
I'd love to do something similar to an Au Pair, in the sense that I travel and do a homestay with a family, but I really have no childcare experience and besides, being a guy, most families look for female Au Pairs so my options would be limited to begin with.
Are there any type of homestay programs that are more suited for guys? Working on a farm or something similar is an idea that comes to mind.
I know that with tourist / backpacking visas in some countries (i.e. Australia), you can travel and do odd jobs for income/accommodation for up to a year, but this seems to be more migrant and variable than what a homestay would offer, where your accommodation would be more or less assured and your stay would be more permanent.
Do any such programs exist? The destinations I have in mind are Australia, New Zealand and France. I lived in Australia for part of my life and I'd love the chance to return, if only for a little while.
'backpacking visa' meaning Working Holiday Visa

Most au pair programs accommodate males too. It is not only for babysitting. Sometimes folk need someone to care for an older child during the vacation, like an escort of sorts, so that the child can go to the beach and do things while the parents are away at work.
Just look on the normal au pair sites.
