Best way to pack a camping backpack?

hockey4eve

I am going on a weekend camp trip (2 nights and I will be staying at a campsite). I do not need to bring food but I will need to have a tent and sleeping bag with me. What is the most efficient way to pack a camping backpack? (include clothing, flashlights, tent, toiletries, first aid, etc)

Answer
What fun! Are you hiking a great distance each day? This makes a difference in how you pack. If you are bringing your personal items from your car to the camp site, keep it simple. Most small sized tents come with their own carry case and have a strap. That can go over one shoulder. Your sleeping bag can be carried under your other arm. Your backpack will be on your back. When you pack your bkpk, put the heavier items on the bottom. You want the weight of the bkpk to be lower to your hips than up on your shoulders. Especially if you are hiking for long distances. You might have a flashlight and some TP near the top of the pack in case you need them before you get your gear set up. You may want a self-inflating pad that you put on the floor of your tent and put your sleeping bag on top. Makes getting a good nights sleep better. Oh, pack an extra flashlight. Hope it helps. Have lots of fun and enjoy.

Question on camping/hunting?

Los

Anybody know if there are any hiking backpacks out there that would allow me to carry basic camping stuff ( water, food, flashlight etc..) and also carry my pistol grip shotgun? What I mean is, I want to be able to have my pistol grip attached to the backpack leaving my hands free to do other stuff.

Answer
Most internal frame backpacks these days have either trekking pole or ski attachment points on the outside, some even have them on the straps going across your chest. I would think they would accommodate your gun.
I know most Osprey and Gregory packs have them.
