Im looking to go camping for my bday in august. Does anyone have any suggestions in a camp im willing to travel up to 3 hours from Butler, Pa. I don't want any of those camps that seem like resorts, i want the out in the middle of no where, able to have a few beers and get rowdy type camps :) Any help is appriciated.

I've been camping and backpacking at Minister Creek in the Allegheny National Forest down near Tionesta, about an hour and 45 minutes from Butler.

They have a small campground with picnic tables, fire ring and outhouse. If you follow the trail behind the campground about half a mile you can find a few backcountry sites by the small creek.
There's also another place to camp on the side of the road with the parking lot. I've camped right on the Tionesta Creek (great for a dip in August!) that's about a 15 minute walk from behind the parking lot (in the other direction from the campground).
You can also get a GREAT view if you hike up to the overlook and there is a moderate 6.6 mile hiking loop.
Great place to spend the weekend and be away from so many Rule Enforcers (although they do stop in once in a while).
Hope this helped that you have a great birthday!

Yes... I miss backpacking, but with a false leg and a grandson it's not easy at this time.
We DO camp here on our ranch though... a nice 1/2 mile ride from the barn down to our lake / pond where we have a campground with 4 platforms for walled-canvas tents, a shower-house, bathroom, fire-circle, picnic tables, hitching rails and a place for our Chuck wagon.
