I plan to take a week off and go camping. I'm in Chicago and plan to go somewhere in the northeast.
I just plan to use a tent and cookstove.

How much do you pay for 2 weeks of summer camp for your kids?

My kids talked me into sending them to sleep away camp this year for 2 weeks. It's costing me $3400 for both of them ($1700 each). The camp is in NY. How much do you pay

You'd spend more money than that taking them to Disneyland for a four day family trip. Summer camps are definitely in the business of making money, but many of them offer opportunities for your children to learn a variety of useful skills, like swimming, canoeing, backpacking, fishing, and just plain simple survival skills.
I'm 60 years old, and still remember fondly the two weeks I spent at a summer camp when I was 13. I had to pay for my own, and it was $20 per day in 1962, so $121 a day is not all that out of line, considering the supervision and preparation necessary to keep a large group of children safe, occupied , and happy over that long a period.
A good babysitter would charge at least $10 per hour for two children. 24 hours a day would be $240, and you would still pay for food and entertainment on top of that. Enjoy the two weeks kid free. You'll get a vacation too.
