backpack camping gear list image

I'm going on a two week backpacking trip through a ymca camp in minnesota and was wondering, is there anything that I should bring that isn't on the :basic need" list? Or any tips for a first timer?
Answer
Just remember that you'll be carrying all of your gear for 2 weeks. Seriously. Every ounce counts, so think really really really hard about everything that you are bringing. Anything that can do double (or triple) duty is a plus.
Some backpackers will even go as far as snipping off the end of their toothbrush and brush in order to save on some weight.
Break in your boots now if they are newer. Blisters are awful on the trail. A travel pack of baby wipes are great for a little personal cleanliness.
