I saw it on the last episode of "Survivorman". He used it along with glycerin and a piece of rhino poo to start a campfire. I want some for my backpacking/camping kit.
Answer
Go to www.Looseinthelab.com. If they don't have it, you might try a backpacking store or some place that sells supplies for serious campers.
P.S. Love Survivorman!!

What should I include in my dog first aid kit?
Q. Im looking to build my own doggie first aid kit for when we go camping and backpacking. I've already started on it with a few items. Are there any essential items that I should absolutely have? She is a 40lb aussie collie

in addition to the tampons the prior answer suggests, you can bring pads as well. Still good at blood absorbison but can act as feild dressing when you wrap it snug around the source. (It'd be better to just have actual bandages to wrap if it's somewhere like the torso or neck but this is quick for places like the legs or tail)
at most livestock feed stores is vetrericyn which is an artifical spray (like what we typicaly use) it's safe for meat animals meaning the medication wont stay in the animal's system after it's been used. Or there's Multi car cut heal. It's the same thing but made out of fish and other animal/plant oils. It takes a little more (moderate - heavy applications rubbed in twice a day) but there's less chance for reaction since it has no actual medication just things the body uses to close wounds.
