Self confidence! That's what you need. When you start middle school make sure to start talking to people. Make a good impression, smile, ask for their names, and do small talk. Nice to say their name after a conversation such as before you leave "it was nice talking to you Anna, bye" then smile. Remember don't talk bad about yourself, and don't talk too much about yourself. Let them talk too and be a good listener. Really I can't stress it, try not to be shy.
Once you start talking to those people that you like, stick with them for lunch and look for them in the morning before school starts to hang out. Always hang out with at least one person and make sure to go form a bigger group. Don't be alone or people can start picking on you.
When making friends, give them eye contact and show them you have confidence. Look them in the eyes but don't stare. Also never look down at the ground or your shoes most likely people will start to look down on you. Remember people love nice and friendly people. Just talk.
Also!
Clothing wise: Main stores to go to----> Old Navy! (Uniforms) and Tilly's. Check google for their the store location nearest you.
Wear nice clothing. Get your mom or parents to buy you clothing for middle school. It's called investment, you know. Okay buy 2-3 white shirts that fits you perfectly and fits your body not the kind of material shirt that the boys wear. Also get 2-3 cardigans and jackets, you can look around H&M, Forever 21, Gap, Walmart, Target...and at least two pairs of Dickie pants, make sure you get that. 2-3 pairs of good-looking shoes such as the brands converse chucks, or vans. Get a nice backpack maybe a jansport. Almost forgot, for PE you need PE shoes try Nike or Adidas brand.
Hygiene
Make sure to shampoo and conditioner your hair very nicely. If you don't have a hair straightener, get your mom to buy you one and have her straighten your hair everyday or every other day.
Don't be cheap.
VERY IMPORTANT Sunscreen that is one of your best friends. You must apply that everyday diligently. It protects you from the sun's harmful uv rays that can turn you older faster. The sun can make you have wrinkles all over your face and you can get dark sun spots, patches of dark that can make your body, skin, face uneven. Ah....it can also cause cancer, bad for your health. Make sure to have it on handy and put it in your PE locker as well.
Body lotion: it keeps your skin moisturized and feeling soft.
Chapstick: Get one of these even better if it has spf, you want to protect your lips as well.
Do you wear a bra? If not you can get your mom to bring you to a bra or lingerie store and have a female store representative, fit your size. Don't attempt it yourself or wear your mother's bra, it can change the shape of your bust, and that's not going to be pretty.
Ultimately, be yourself, you're on the period where you're growing, and your parents need to meet most of your needs. You're a healthy growing girl you know.
Ah...it also may be good to get along with teachers, do your homework, and maybe even join a sport or physical activity like swimming well if the school provides those programs and classes for you.
*If your mom won't do these things for you, go straight to your dad immediately for help and plead with him.*
I wished someone had told me these things earlier. Now I'm in college, but I survived.
You must take control over your life, you have bigger responsibilites now. Make this middle school time the best time you can ever have where after you graduate from middle school, you can tell others about your happy memories then and not regret. Because you are young and you should have the best. Best wishes and congratulations for your move up to Middle School!

I am very much of a "Tom Boy." How can I become more "girly" without feeling uncomfortable?
bear
My style is very casual and comfy for me. The typical T-Shirt and jeans kinda girl. I love being comfy in my own clothes, but all my girlfriends are way more girly than i am. When I look at myself I feel like I'm too "manly" in what i wear. I want to be more girly, but I just don't feel comfortable in all those girly clothes. What can I do to be more girly??
Answer
hey. you don't wanna become girly all of a sudden, so just gradually add girly stuff to your outfit. but please make sure you like it, otherwise it will only look awkward on you.
first try wearing a cute necklace. it doesn't have to be full on pepto-bismol pink =]

start from wearing t-shirts, to v-necks

then you can always replace your backpack with a bag for school

i used to be a tom boy too. a lot of people begin growing out of that stage in middle school. its really all about transition. you can't suddenly go from tom boy to glam girl without people noticing and being uncomfortable. wear what you like, and jeans are always perfect. they're still my fav =]
i hope i helped
