I'm a teenage girl going on a school trip. I'll be visiting London, Paris, Florence and Rome in early April. I'll be walking alot, and some of the buildings i'll be visiting may have dresscodes. I dont want to overpack, because we'll have to carry our luggage around alot and i want lots of room for souvenirs. Anyways, please give me as detailed a list as you can. Thanks alot :)

Congrats on your trip...I know you are going to have a ball.
First and foremost, look for a bag that you are comfortable carrying around and practice with it.
You might find that the nicest looking bag is NOT the most comfortable one to carry.
If you are going to have to carry your bag around alot, maybe (if $$ allows it), you might want to consider a hikers backpack. If this does not work for you, look for one of the backpacks with wheels so that you can carry it sometimes and roll it others. Pick a few bags and test them out by walking up and down the street with them. 5 or so minutes with each will give you an IDEA of how comfortable they will be.

As for what to pack once you have found the perfect bag....FIRST AND FOREMOST PACK YOUR ELECTRIC CONVERTER. Your hotel MIGHT have 110 but the standard voltage there is 220 so your things probably will not work without some sort of converter. Even if they do, they will probably need a different type of plug as the sockets are different. Check with your trip coordinator to be sure.

Go online a few days before you leave so that you have an idea of what kinds of tempatures you are going to find when you arrive.

One of the keys to a great trip is packing light. You can do that in several ways but the one that I like the best is to pack things that have many functions. If you have a pair of shorts with multicolors in them, you could wear them twice with different tops. IF you wear those shorts on Monday and Thursday with drastically different color shirts, it is doubtful that anyone will even notice.

A travel bottle of laundry powder (4oz or less) in a CHECKED bag can allow you to wash something in the sink should you run out of clothing and/or if you spill something on your clothing. A good pair of walking shoes is a must for ANY tourist. Try to pack clothing that will match the shoes you have on or the ONE other pair that you have packed. No more than two pairs of shoes in your luggage and ideally you really only need one and possibly a pair of flip flops for the pool.

If you can get away without carrying a purse, get one of those passport/id holders to go around your neck. It will keep your hands free for holding cameras/drinks etc. YOu can tuck this under your shirt if you don't want to stick out....they are harder to lose since you don't have to worry about putting it down~

***
Be sure to pack a small bag of sanitary supplies if you are traveling CLOSE to the time of the visit from your monthly friend. The worst thing in the world would be trying to find something like that RIGHT when you need it in another country. If you already wear tampons, consider a compact version of the ones you already use. OB's fit nicely inside of pockets and are very effective. If you wear pads, the slim or thin versions should be explored NOW!

****

You are going to be on a plane for a LONG time. Try to think of how you are going to amuse yourself. Even if you have an ipod, you might want to bring a book in case the batteries die before your flight ends. A light sweatshirt and a pair of comfy socks would be a nice addition to your carryon bag as sometimes flights tend to be a bit cooler. The extra layer would probably make it easier to catch a nap and if you dont use the sweatshirt, it could still be balled up to make a nice pillow if you don't want to invest in the blow up kind.

*******
check with your airline to see if they will allow you to bring snacks on your plane. A small box or two of raisins might make for a nice snack while you are waiting to be fed on the plane. The 100 calorie bags of whatever and a package of peanut butter crackers might also save you a bit of money while in the airport.

What are some good stores to look for cute bags and/or backpacks for school?

Answer
I think that vera bradley has some really cute ones, even if it was a tote bag.
I would also suggest target, kohl's or walmart :)
