Where is a good place to go primitive camping/ backpacking?

I live outside Madison, WI and am looking for places that allow primitive camping/ backpacking. I don't want the Campgrounds with picnic areas, pools and game rooms. I want to take my backpack and be in the wilderness. Places near lakes or rivers would be nice, but anywhere is okay. I am looking to do this for about a week. Any ideas?

I'm gonna be staying outdoors and spending some time with mother earth ( for about 2-3 months), besides the obvious, what is the best way to keep physically clean, especially during my period. Thanks so much!!

The obvious answer for backpackers, campers, and travelers is to use babywipes.
However you did say you will be spending time(2-3 months) and babywipes will add up litter a lot.
If you can, get biodegradable babywipes.

Biodegradable soap is an option too but you will need water to go along with that.

A solar shower is another great option especially you want to clean yourself more thoroughly during that 2-3 month time span.

Talc powder is used to keep odors away by staying dry. Put it in your hair and crotch area(to prevent 'crotch rot').
