He is due next month and I want to take a camping trips with him a soon as possible. We usually do backpack camping so a sling or wrap is ideal for the lightweight fabric. I live and camp in Texas so something that won't make him overheat is needed. While there won't be any real climbing, a stroller would not be useful for our favorite places.

What are some National Parks in the US that are safe for beginning backpackers in the winter?

My friend and I are looking to take a trip and do some backpacking/camping this winter at the end of December or early January. Neither of us have ever really done any backpacking in the past. Thanks for any suggestions.

Big Bend National Park, Texas. I went there during the 3rd week of January this year. Temps were generally in the 50's during the day, high 30s at night in the Chisos Mountains. It could snow, but it's not likely to be anything that would hinder your hike. You will need to carry lots of water for this hike. The trail is pretty easy to follow here. Check it out, very cool place:
