Do a lot of high school girls still wear backpacks?

A lot of high school girls have tote bags these days but does a lot of average high school girls still carry backpacks?

Or is it just the "nerds"?

Around 50% of girls wear backpacks? 25% maybe? What percentage?

I'd say about 80% of girls including myself carry backpacks at my school, while the remaining 20% carry either messenger bags or tote bags. It doesn't matter whether or not you're nerdy to carry a backpack or not. Plenty of preppy not-so-nerdy girls wear backpacks. Plenty of super nerdy girls carry totes as well.

I live in Mt pleasant sc, I'm going to wando high school on August 21st, as a freshman and I wanted to know if I should order a backpack. I was gonna get a solid black Jansport, but I don't think anyone wears them here. I wanna get a purse as a backpack but idk what people wear and what brand to wear. PLEASE HELP!

I know this from experience! Im about to be a senior this year and im telling you , in high school you need PRACTICAL, not cute haha no one cares about having a stylish backpack when you have 4 notebooks and 3 textbooks to carry. And an over the shoulder bag will look cute but will hurt your shoulder after a while of carrying so many books. Im serious, stick with a jansport or something that will last you. Most people use backpacks anyways and just carry a purse on the side. Listen to the wisdom of an upperclassman :P get something that will last, you will appreciate it haha
