I want to go camping with a friend of mine in Groton. We want to go to these woods that people sometimes hike in. Would this be illegal? if it is illegal then why is it? What ever happened to going out into the woods to camp? And all of the campgrounds are these public places with no privacy that you drive to -__- NOT REAL CAMPING.

You would need to know who owns the land. If the land belongs to a person who pays taxes on the land, then you would be trespassing unless you seek and obtain permission to violate the land. If the land is public land, then regulations may allow you to use the land as a place of dispersed camping. However, you still need to know who has jurisdiction over the land. Your county register-of-deeds office has maps that indicate the ownership of all lands in your area.

Is there any secluded camping in CT?

Looking for somewhere to go camping with my girlfriend in the CT area (rhode island maybe) that is secluded from other campsites so we can have some privacy and alcohol permitted would be nice but not needed. Just hate going camping and having someone right next to you with no privacy so anywhere secluded in the CT and RI area would be great.

Connecticut does not have any national forest lands. Try backpacking on the Appalachian Trail.
