climbing/camping? ?

i want to go on a backpacking trip where i hike to the bottom of some rocks and spend some time there and camp. are there any good places like that in utah, az, california (preferably southern but northern works to) or new mexico?

The place were they go camping with Meredith is the one i am thinking about I have not seen the movie in a long time, so i don't remember if they mention a name or not. All i remember is that it was in northern California.

Haven't seen it in a while, but I'm pretty sure they went backpacking... and in central valley and / or NorCal, that could be any number of locations.
