What School supplies are needed or in what places can you find the school lists?

Answer
****SCHOOL SUPPLIES******
BASICS
- No. 2 pencils
- Mechanical pencils
- Colored pencils
- Pencil sharpener (hand-held with a top to collect shavings)
- A large pink eraser
- Ballpoint pens (Get a few red ink ones too, because some teachers have students do peer editing.)
- Highlighters
- Spiral-bound or composition notebooks
- Loose-leaf notebook paper (Teachers can be picky about paper. Some ask that students use the college-ruled variety.)
- A ruler with English and metric measurements

ORGANIZATIONAL HELPERS
- Several three-ring binders (Some teachers require that a binder be used exclusively for their class.)
- A three-hole punch (a regular one or one that fits in a three-ring binder)
- A pencil case that fits in a binder
- Binder dividers (The kinds with pockets are good for loose papers.)
- Pocket folders
- Folders that fit in binders
- Agenda/Planner
- A calendar for scheduling assignments
- A sturdy, supportive backpack (Some schools do not permit rolling backpacks because of space considerations, so check with your school before considering this option.)
- Two combination locks (If the school lockers do not have built-in locks, you might need one for the hallway and one for the gym.)
- Flash Drive to save any important documents

STUDY AIDS
- Index cards, ruled and unruled (These are great for making flash cards.)
- Highlighters
- A calculator (Check with the math teacher first before investing in an expensive one. Graphing calculators, for example, are required in many high school math classes. Teachers advise parents not to buy a calculator with more functions than students will use.)

*****WHAT TO BRING ON THE FIRST DAY****
Folder - for all the syllabuses, rules, guidelines, & supply lists that your teacher passes out
Pencil - Just in case your asked to do a small activity that involves writing
Paper - Again for the small activity
Locker items - If your locker was already given out to you then it's best to bring your lock & throughout the week you can bring your locker items.
Binder - Just a 1"
Backpack - To carry everything and sometimes teachers give out textbooks
Money - For lunch of something

--And any girl/boy accessories that you may need. (ipod, phones, makeup, brushes, etc.)

What are the disadvantages of having lockers in schools?

Jess

I have to write a persuasive essay on why lockers are bad to have in school, and i have no idea how to even start it. If anyone could suggest a nice and interesting way of starting it, let me know.
My english marks have dropped recently, so i NEED to make up for it with this essay atleast :/
I'd reeaally appreciate some answers !
Thanks :)

Now that I'm in college, I've begun to realize even more reasons why lockers SUCK. Really, I have always hated them.
First of all, they can be a safety hazard. Really. When I was walking and looking at someone I had a crush on in the sixth grade, I ran into one. It had more to do with the fact that the person that owned the locker had left it open and decided to go gossip with friends for four hours leaving all her valuables within perfect reach, but whatever. And that reminds me...
Secondly, people steal stuff! Really! It is so flipping easy, even with a lock on a locker, to worm some kind of paper clip through the holes in a locker to get at a piece of jewelry- even hook around a small iPod! When I was in middle school, some girl got her iPod Touch stolen, but she had forgotten to lock her locker. But still! I don't know why, but people seem to feel that since we all have lockers, it's not as personal or wrong to grab something out of one instead of zipping open someone's backpack and stealing stuff from there.
Thirdly, they're gross. Really. I don't like having to switch from having a clean locker to an old rust bucket that has boogers all over it. Ick. Some freak actually walked by my nicer locker when I was a sophomore, and WIPED HIS SNOT ON IT with his sleeve. That is unsanitary on so many levels. What a gooner. And also, when you have to share those lockers that stack on each other, things leak through. Like, if you have muddy boots from going outside, and you change them for class, and they leak through those invisible holes that have been molded from the thirty-some years of wet erosion that the locker has gone through, silently suffering. That's disgusting.
They're small! Lockers are not usually even CLOSE to being able to fit all of the crap that we have to cart around now. We might as well carry our backpacks with us to class anyway, because it's like holding a small elephant in your hands when you go. With all the new requirements and us trying to compete with China, we're going to have to triple the size of those cubby holes they call lockers, or deal with someone doing a face plant and indenting their skull with a history book.
What else? Oh- they DO NOT OPEN. The janitor actually had to come to my locker WITH A CROWBAR (how embarrassing :/) and pry open my locker, which had been jammed because my stuff wouldn't fit, as referred to above. Every time it was slammed in anger (even a light slam) it would get stuck right where the lock connected to the hinge, and leave the rest wide open. So, even though I couldn't get my larger stuff, someone might be able to steal my iPod from the tiny shelf at the top. Oh, joy.
Sharing them. If you have to put up with a locker, here comes the pressure of the stupid boyfriend/ girlfriend situation. Even with best friends this can happen! It happened to ME! They want to share a locker with you ("It's oh-so convenient!" they say) and then what happens? You get in a fight, they piss you off, suddenly your stuff is missing, or a ball of shredded paper that looks suspiciously like your homework is lying at the bottom of it. So you tell the principal. And what do they say? (Like clockwork...) "It's your fault for sharing a locker. That's why we don't recommend it." It's stupid to share lockers. And even after you're done sharing, and you've parted ways, guess who might decide to sabotage it later BECAUSE THEY STILL HAVE THE COMBINATION. :/
They're annoying. (I should be counting these for you, but I'm not. Sorry lol.) You have to basically sprint all the way to your locker for every class. It's stupid. Like, if you have choir at one end of the building, and AP U.S. History at the other end, you shouldn't have to cart all of your crap with you just so you won't be marked tardy! It's even worse when you sprain something, and even though you get to get out early, your teacher still gives you and the person helping you the stink eye anyway. :/ And all of those stupid combinations to remember! I got lucky- one of mine was counting by tens- it was so easy. But some of them are really hard, and then you've got a gym one, and a band one, and one for cross country- sooner or later you're still screwing up the combinations, and I hate doing the wrong com, especially when you're already late for something, and none of the stuff in your locker is organized, because there's no room to have everything neat and out of the way, so you're in a harried mess, pulling that GIGANTIC chemistry book out from underneath your narrow pile of books at the bottom, only to realize once you get to class that you grabbed the wrong folder.
Now I have a huge, beautiful High Sierra black backpack that I carry everywhere, and I love it. I will never go back to having a stinky locker. They suck. Period.
