I'm asking about camp sites in Texas that will allow for camping/backpacking with over night stay and that will allow for the use of tents. Also, the camp should include something fun, a river or waterfall. I want to have a camping trip with a couple of buddies, like the movie Deliverance, except without the raping and murder.

Best place to camp away from any people?

I want to go camping this summer some place away from any people. I live in Central Texas but I'm definitely considering going farther out, or even out of state, to go somewhere where I could "live off of the land", so to speak, maybe not hunt for food, but just be away from people for a while. Any tips on getting to a place where people don't come very often, or advice on what kind of supplies to bring?

Answer
Guadalupe Mountains would be some of the best backpacking in your area in my opinion. But it would be really hot in the summer. And as in any desert hiking water can be a problem.
My personal favorite area is the North Cascades. Wilderness areas such as Glacier Peak Wilderness are very remote and quite scenic. And on side trails or cross-country you can go days without seeing anybody else. If you do go there have a good rainjacket, waterproof boots, and lots of bug repellent.
