hey, i'm flying with united airlines to heathrow and then i'll fly with malaysia airlines to KL, malaysia. what are the carry on items that's allowed? is it ok for me to bring a carry-on suitcase and a backpack? or am i gonna get charged?
and, i'm flying domestically first with delta airlines to Washington Dulles. is it ok to bring a carry-on suitcase and a backpack?

You can find the baggage allowances and charges on the various airline sites. With United, the carry on rules are here: https://www.united.com/CMS/en-US/travel/Pages/BaggageCarry-On.aspx?camp=virtual_expert . You are allowed 1 carry on bag plus one personal item that should fit under the seat in front of you. The size of the carry on bags are limited to 14 inches x 9 inches x 22 inches (23 x 35 x 56 cm) or 45 linear inches (114 cm).

I want to pack up and go backpacking in Malaysia and Thailand for a month or two I'm quite shy and worried about getting lost is this a good idea or will things go bad

Thailand is a safe country, but drunk Thai men love foreign blond women. If you go to a place where no crowd can see you, watch out. Rent a hotel room with a good door lock. Do not camp alone; tours are cheap. Dress conservative everywhere. Do not trust anyone. Thai police likely will not help you, especially not fast enough, and most do not speak English. Thai Tourist Police appear good, but only work Bangkok, not outside it.
Malaysia... get some good insurance that will cover bringing your dead or sick body back to your home country. Otherwise, my question re this country is "Are you nuts?"
