Inclusion in Special Education? Im writing a position paper on Inclusion. I do agree on inclusion in general ed, so now I have to write a position paper on it. How should I start? Should I start by identifying inclusion?

It might be a more interesting introduction if you describe a full inclusion student's experience (changing his or her name and some of the details, for the sake of confidentiality.) Then talk about the options available for students with special needs, and how this student is benefiting from inclusion.
For example, "John goes into his kindergarten class wearing his new yellow raincoat and a big smile. His classmates greet him with high fives and hugs. John puts his backpack and raincoat away and goes to join a group of boys who are building with blocks" etc. etc. "When the class begins working in their centers, John's one-to-one assistant sits by him to modify the tasks, giving John the support he needs to succeed" etc. etc. Then you talk about how John is an inclusion kid, define inclusion, list other special education options, what the benefits of inclusion are, etc.

They are 2 of 5 kids so I want to get them something good but something that won't cause too much clutter.

Here are some ideas:
* arts and crafts items - play doh with tools, Color Wonder markers (no mess!) and coloring books, sticker books
* backpacks - they'll need them for when they go to Kindergarten. Get nice sturdy ones that can hold normal size binders.
* Puzzles - go for any of the Nick Jr. themed puzzle boxes in the stores.
* Gift certificates for shoes - Payless or Stride Rite would be great places to get a gift certificate. No matter how many kids you have, each one needs new shoes.
Books are a decent idea for any child, but with so many kids in the family, I'd suspect they'd just get lost in the shuffle.
