best outdoor backpack reviews image

I'm looking for a white gas stove for backpacking that is light weight but has the ability to have its flame adjusted for simmering. I've read multiple reviews of stoves like MSR's Simmerlite that say it really doesn't have simmering capabilities. Any suggestions?
Answer
Obviously the MSR Simmerlite isnt going to have the simmer capabilities as your kitchen stove, but it has the best simmering capabilities among light weight camping stoves....whether they are liquid fueled or canister. I own and use the simmerlite in conditions that arent great for ultra light weight canister stoves- cold temps and high altitude.
Compared to other stoves I believe the simmerlite has the widest range of flame control, from simmer to blowtorch. If you go to any good outdoor store they`ll do a demo for you, I know REI and Campmor do it.

Does anyone here have experience using the Industry Brand QB-6 to hunt small game?
Jeremy
I am new to air gunning and to hunting, but have done some shooting before. I am considering buying one of these air rifles from Archer Airguns for use as a backpacking/SHTF small game gun. The problem is that I've seen only one good review, one terrible, and one by Mr. (Steve?) Archer himself, a stellar rating of course. I would like some feedback from someone who has used this gun for small game (squirrels, rabbit, game birds), whether you liked it or not. I would like information on it's effective range against my intended quarry, useful upgrades and mods, accessories (definitely needs a decent low to mid priced scope, so I could use a recommendation on that). If the only advice you can offer (from experience) is to avoid this gun like the clap, please tell me why, and recommend something else (maybe where to find parts for a custom build, since that seems to be the other best option for getting what I want).
Criteria for other gun recommendations are as follows
Compact- Must fit in a normal size outdoor backpack, for instance I currently have a day pack that is as tall as my back, so that with some padding, the QB-6 would probably fit nicely when folded (one important reason I've chosen this gun) unlike something along the lines of the Crosman bug out kit.
Powerful and accurate enough to reliably take rabbits and squirrels at a minimum range of 100 ft (I fear this will be the QB-6's main downfall, but it may not be so bad after a little upgrading, modding, tuning).
I don't want anything CO2 powered, and pneumatics seem prohibitively priced, which I think leaves springers; side- and under-levers only.
I'm hoping to get set for $100 or less by this fall (rabbit and squirrel seasons) This may be a bit unrealistic, but I think at this time $150 would be my max.

What I would recommend
Crosman 1322

Then, add a steel breech kit, longer barrel, flat piston and Crosman 1399 shoulder stock.
The shoulder stock goes on and off with one screw. A flat piston and longer barrel will double the power, the shoulder stock and steel breech would allow for greater accuracy. You need the steel breech to add optics. That may be a bit over your limit, but it would be capable of doing what you want.
To save money, you would not have to spend $55 on a brand new 1322. You could go to a flea market and pick up a 1322 or 1377 for $20 or less. You're going to replace the breech and barrel anyway. Just make sure the trigger is working.
Industry Brand - The next time I run into a well made Chinese built air rifle, will make the first time.
Yes there are some guys** who take production model Chinese air rifles and customize them to the point they're useful.
**Stephen Archer is one. You didn't really expect Mr Archer to bad mouth an airgun he's trying to sell, did you(rhetorical question). Mike Melick(Flying Dragon Airguns) is another.
