Backpacks vs Totes to High School?

I am getting ready to start high school, im a girl, so backpack or tote? I've heard both sides and still don't know! I am not going to public, Im going to private school, if that makes a difference! I don't want to seem stuck up, but I don't want to be the only one with a backpack either! I am not a tom boy or a girly girl, im inbetween. So far im leaning towards totes. Does anyone know what size is a good size to bring that can hold all my books? Where can I buy them? please post a link or give me a store name, i dont care about name brand! Do girls carry them to classes, or do they put their totes in their lockers and carry a smaller purse to class? Do most girls carry purses to class anyways? If not then what type of backpacks seem popular? please post a link to common designs! Thanks for your help!

Well everyone I know at my public school wears a backpack. Some girls carry totes but they aren't good at all for keeping them organized. These girls are also the girls who never turn in their work because they lost it or it fell out somewhere. You could try getting a messenger bag. They have really cute ones. Also at my school we never had time to make it through the crowded halls to get to our lockers sometimes. So in your backpack or whatever you choose just keep your binders or folders with important work and leave your books in your locker.

Some girls carry smaller purses but not a lot so that's your choice too.

Try goin to target for some cute backpacks/totes/messenger bags as well. Before school starts they actually have tote bags that are made my jansport so they have room for books, pencils and all that stuff!

I need a new backpack for school, and i want something that is going to be sturdy. ( the last time i bought a backpack at staples, it broke the second I picked it up and it was a piece of crap). Does this backpack look sturdy, durable, and like it would hold all of my supplies? Also, is it pretty? Thanks!
