Hey. My sister is starting school and going to 7th grade. She's FREAKING OUT.
She likes makeup ALOT. What kind of makeup should she wear?
She also into clothes. Where should she shop?
And:
Any places where she could get really cute backpacks and or any other school supplies?
She's also very trendy, and she likes to have the stuff that's "in". She likes to make people jealous.
Haha, and last but not least:
DO's and DON'Ts.
I'd help her myself but I didn't exactly survive....lol.
Answer
Ok, first off, she should wear natural makeup, like a little bit of eyeliner, natural colored eyeshadow, and mascara. For skin, she can use concealer to put over blemishes or use a BB cream. For lips, just go with again, a natural color. 7th graders shouldn't look like they have massive amounts of makeup on!

For clothing, she should shop at stores like Forever 21, Wetseal, H&M, Papaya, Alley Kat, Ross, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and JCPenneys. These places have nice fashionable clothing for pretty cheap. Also, you can try shopping online on ebay.com and amazon.com. She may be against this idea, but thrift shops like Goodwill and Value Village have some of the best clothes ever. It's cool to shop at these places because you will find a really cute and fashionable item that nobody else has, and it will cost you less than $5. Also, you are helping out charities when shopping at thrift shops. In middle school, kids don't really do printed and cutesy backpacks. They usually will go for a backpack that is solid in color, or that had a simple pattern, like a Jansport brand one. You can get really cute school supplies at Target for cheap!

Ok, now for the Do's and Don't's
DO:
make friends with new people
try out for sports if interested. they are really fun!
concentrate on grades
be nice to everyone, even if they are "different"
be a good listener. teachers aren't going to baby you and watch you every second. it isnt elementary school anymore!
be on time to class. you don't want detention!
stay away from unnecessary drama
DON'T:
be rude to others
stay in just one "clique". try to talk to everyone. this will help you become popular (FYI, being popular shouldn't matter)
don't smart off to teachers, even if it makes you look "cool"
don't skip class. teacher won't give you the work you missed
don't act snobby and think you are better than others
don't go with the wrong crowd who may pressure you to start drinking and smoking
try not to be annoying or start drama with the older kids. it will just spread around school that you are someone who is trying to act cool, if that makes sense...
Tell her don't be nervous about 7th grade. Middle school is basically training wheels for high school. It was my best school year I have ever had. Just be confident when you enter that school building :)
I hope all of this helped. Tell her I said good luck and have a good first day!

Ok this is about school shopping?
lilbit
I'm ocd and can't stamd doing stuff last minute well its about 2 weeks till school and my mom hasn't said a word about school shopping but hates when I ask her about spending money because its really really short
Answer
Money is really tight for my family and my mom hates when i ask her for even the smallest amount of money, no matter what the reason, and i always feel guilty about it later, but school shopping in necessary for every kid out there so i just made sure to look for good deals and only bought the necessities.
Im a Junior this year and i already and a perfectly good binder that i never used, so i spent about 20 on a new backpack, and maybe another 12 for index cards, pencils, erasers, pens, paper and notebooks. This was all that was necessary for my class, and i had everything else i needed, or had access to everything else i needed at school.
Clothing is whats going to be the real cash buster for your mom. I hate jackets even when im cold i dont like wearing them and i hate long sleeves anyway so if i do wear a jacket i usually roll up the sleeves...i know its weird right!? Lol, but anyways i looked threw my closet tried everything on to see what still fit, what was to old and worn out etc. Then i bought new clothes to replace the stuff i planned to get rid off that no longer fit.I also did the same for shoes and accessories and realized i only needed about 3 new pairs of jeans, one new pair of shoes, about 7 to 8 shirts, a new jacket/cardigan, and a few small accessories.I tried not to be picky and find the best quality clothes and best brands i could find in regular department stores. I spent 8 dollars on a pair of jeans, and 16 on a cardigan, both on clearance/yellow tag deals at Forever 21. I was tempted to buy new sunglasses but i already have 2 pairs i bought from Hot Topic during the previous semester that were still in good condition. Instead i bought a new rubber bracelet and necklace at Hot Topic for about 15. My moms makes her own jewelry of her own so i didnt think it was necesary to go buy actual jewelry. I spent 110 dollars in total on 7 shirts, a pair of shoes and a pair of jeans at JCPenney. Most of the stuff was on sale or clearance, and i had an additional 15% off coupon. At the bottom of my receipt it showed the total i spent, and the total amount i saved, and i saved my mom 150 dollars. I bought a novelty tee from Walmart for like another 8 dollars, and i sent about 40 on a pair of jeans and another shirt at Target. (I don't have all the receipts in front of me this i just the estimated prices i remember paying)
In total i spent about 230something for all my school clothes and supplies. Just look around, see what you have, find out what you actually need, work with your budget, and find the best deals possible to save as much money as you can on everything so that you have money left over. Never pay full retail price for anything, with careful budgeting and bargain hunting, you can find what you need for much cheaper then you think.
If your situation is beyond bad, try Ross, TJMaxx or Burlington Coat Factory for new clothes and the same brands as most other stores. Stuff is much cheaper in these stores because most for the clothing is new but comes from other stores that either had overstocked on certain items or is leftover clearance items that didnt sell somewhere else. Worst case scenario you can go to a thrift store. Most of the thrift clothes are the same brands you can find in any other store, and most of it cheap, used, or new but donated etc.
I have friends who spent 300, 400, even 500 dollars alone on just clothes, and they always end up complaining they're broke later. I feel sorry for them. But hey, if they have the money to waste who am i to judge :P
