I'm attending a summer camp at a College this summer for 5 weeks. I'll be taking 2 college classes, one including a lab, plus doing rounds at a hospital two days a week. What to I need to bring both clothing wise and for living in the dorm?

Answer
You didn't mention some of the key factors -- including whether the dorm you'll stay in has furnishings and air conditioning and whether you'll have a cafeteria and laundering facilities.

I think the key things to bring would include:
Clothing -- Enough for 2 weeks or so if you can do laundry. Don't forget pajamas.
Laptop (and appropriate accessories)
School supplies (notebooks, pens, pencils, highlighters, post-its, backpack)
Bedding -- Sheets, blankets, pillows
Your toiletries/shower supplies (Many college students use a shower caddy to carry their personal toiletries to/from the shower area, which is often a shared space like a locker room. Many also choose to wear flip flops in the shower to prevent any foot fungi because again, the space is shared. And don't forget your towel!)
Laundry basket/bag, detergent and quarters
Mini fridge/microwave (This may be overkill for a 5 week stay.)
Food/Drinks- - Soda, sports drinks, crackers, chips, nuts, granola bars -- Study time snacks!
A Fan (If there's no air conditioning. Some dorms still don't have that.)

What is the best laptop for a mechanical engineer?

Jay-jay Bu

So i'm currently majoring in mechanical engineering and i came into my school with a macbook pro that i got for roughly $1,100. Just last weekend i had it with me in my backpack when i was with my parents in santa monica. I left my backpack in the car buried underneath a bunch of clothes and when i returned i noticed that my bag was rearranged differently. I didn't really think much of it, but when i got back to school that night, I discovered my macbook pro along with its charger to have been stolen.

So now i need to find a replacement laptop. I'm looking for a laptop that will benefit me most as a mechanical engineer and that's also pretty good all around. I know there are some laptops that you can get cheaper than a macbook pro that'll be almost as good if not better than the mac. I enjoyed the video editing software as well for the mac, but that's very besides the point. I'm not looking forward to dropping another 1K on a laptop, so if there are better ones out there for me it'd be much help.

Answer
Well honestly speaking, nothing can replace a Macbook. They are simply the best. But as you are on a budget, so I'll recommend Dell Inspiron 15" laptop. It has great specs. It is one of the best selling laptops. I think it would be just perfect for you. It is well within your budget. This customer review will help you make your choice:

So this laptop is excellent:
- Affordable price
- Intel Core_i5_3210M Processor 2.5GHz
- Powerful
- Huge hard drive
- Amazing display
- Light weight

Here is the discounted price for this laptop, from my research:
