I volunteer for a nonprofit that offers programs like tutoring, sports, art and mentoring to foster care youth. We tried so hard to collect donation for back-to-school supplies and were under our goals which means some kids get stuff while others don't. It's really sad. So we gave to their youth who participate the most. But that discourages the kids who didn't get anything and they think there is some favoritism.
How would you collect donations in these hard times for a cause you really care about.
Answer
Get involved with area schools, churches, youth groups, sports leagues and scout groups. Write to their community service coordinators (or whoever would best fit this description) and ask to be put on a list of organizations looking for help.
In particular, find out who in your community encourages or requires community service. Ask kids to run small grade-level or school/church/team wide drive for the items you're looking for. Do it in advance so you can bank the bulk of the items for the coming year and fill in as necessary. 5 kids with 20 friends each bringing 1 school item equals 10 filled backpacks. Get a whole school involved and you may be able to cover your program for the year and attract new donations.
Also consider getting volunteers involved in more direct ways. People who are invested in a program are more likely to support it financially.
I run a small non-profit and I've been spreading the word about our program to supply gently used sports uniforms and footwear to kids in rural Mexico. I was just contacted by a family whose 4th grader is interested in running a drive at his school as part of a run for class office. Apparently it's a tradition at his school to prove one's leadership through such a project. I know he won't be able to supply a very large part of what we need, but every little bit helps and the publicity we'll get out of it will be very valuable. We'll run a thank-you in the newspaper, put his face on our website and benefit from the word-of-mouth publicity at his school.

How does a guy teach a girl how to fight?
Q. My sister gets picked on at school and I dont live with her do it aint nothinq I can do about it so how do I teach her to fight so she can defend herself()she is fed up with ppl nd this is the second school where shes gotten picked on She doesnt want to tell her teachers they dont listen they target her out and shes 12 (dont tell me not ty o con df one fighting cause she need this)
Answer
One I can tell you they target her bc my sister is targeted and she's very smart and quiet. She starts coming out of her shell they may not. Ok well idk how old you are or big you are compared to her, but I learned when I did live with my brother mainly bc he beat me up every day and now no one who knows me messes with me. Now if you're too big to pick on her yourself and wrestle with (bc I in a fight she's got to learn to throw people off of her and take a hit, miss a hit, and throw a hard hit) if you're huge compared to her, I'm sure you know how, so I would show her the way you would move in a fight and let her use you as her punching bag. My sister gets picked on as well and she's 14 but she's a lover not a fighter and me and my brother are the fighters no questions asked. So I understand it's a serious matter. But why I'm saying if you're big, be her punching bag, you'll be able to take her hits, see how she moves, and that'll also build her muscle and she will punch harder and harder as you go. I just wouldn't suggest any martial arts mainly bc I believe they consider you a weapon then, correct? Idk. Get her to run, so she can learn to be fast. Get her to do push ups so she can hit harder. I mean I know she's young but if it's that bad and no one will help her, I'd take your time with her and just push her to the limit until she's a little slugger. If you're too far away bc you don't live with her, call her every day and tell her work out schedule. Make sure the parents know. I mean fighting isn't a good thing but you can only take so much. I am an armed security guard and all I want to do is protect my family. I mean if anything she doesn't necessarily have to be just strong. My brother told my a good one to do but she has to do it very fast while walking down the hallway so it'll embarrass these kids. But she does need to be strong if they get up swinging. Lol. Ok if the bully is walking down the hallway and has their backpack on BOTH shoulders (very important) she can run up and veeeerry quickly and as fast and as strong and hard as she can grab that top strap and pull straight down. She does it right their ass is hitting the ground. I mean maybe she won't have to end up fighting. I'd definitely teach her the best way I could, buy her a punching back to bulk up a little first but after that, if they pick on her, tell her to pick right back, or do it first. Make their lives hell. Put gum in their seats when the teach isn't looking before they sit make sure it blends in. Can't prove it was her, spray bleach in their seats, can't prove it was her. Teach her a spit bomb. A whole piece of paper in her mouth and just get it completely soggy soaked, when she's done, if she's close to the kid and can discreetly set it on their backpack or if theyre wearing a jacket with a hood set it in there or on the backpack and just watch the spit spread. To get them down fast she has to be fast but it catches them off guard every time, very quickly she can grab hair or a hood on a jacket. I like hair bc it makes better aim for the face. They dont see it coming so if she's fast enough and she grabs the hair and slams face downward as fast as she can, bam busted face in the floor, then she can quickly grab an arm and put it behind their back and push up by the elbow toward the head as hard and as far as she can. It hurts so bad they won't think of moving. Theres much more she can do, but if she definitely starts picking on them too and at least acts like she would shred them if they touched her, they won't. It's all an act. They're kids. Sorry I believe this is long but I had fun in school. Lol. I hope she turns out alright. I know they're just kids but my sister won't usually fight. Just busts noses and walks away. Plus when she's mad she's going to be able to fight a lot better and stronger than she knows.
